About Family Compass (ICU)
Family Compass (ICU) is a co-designed support pathway developed for families, friends and loved ones affected by critical illness.
Developed together
Family Compass (ICU) was developed through doctoral research at the University of Plymouth and informed by co-design work involving family members of critically ill patients, former ICU patients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
The co-design study was undertaken by Joy O'Gorman, Registered Nurse (BSc (Hons)) and PhD Student at the University of Plymouth.
Research approvals
The study is approved by the Health Research Authority (HRA) and the University of Plymouth Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities Ethics Committees.
